The Lao Para Cycling Federation is raising funds to support the training and participation of nine para cyclists in the 2026 ASEAN Para Games in Thailand in January. They are looking for corporate sponsorship and donations, with a goal of raising a total of $6,500.
Officially established in 2018, the Lao Para Cycling Federation began as a small grassroot initiative with just one athlete and five volunteer board members. Founded by Mr. Vilaphone Phouthavongsay, a dedicated para cyclist, the Federation’s goal was to create meaningful opportunities for persons with disabilities to engage in sport, build self-confidence, and be recognized as athletes.
Over the past few years, the Federation has made remarkable progress—from a small club to a nationally recognized body. Today, it includes 17 para cyclists, 12 board members, and has successfully competed in several international competitions such as the World Ability Games, Asian Para Cycling Championships, and the Asian Para Games.

With a strong foundation, they are now collaborating with Thai Para Cycling Association, the Lao Paralympic Committee, the Lao Cycling Federation, and community partners such as Team Dai and local cycling networks. These relationships have enabled the Federation to grow, promote disability inclusion, and increase Lao visibility in regional para sports.
The Federation is now seeking sponsorship and donations to raise $6,500 to provide equipment and training to facilitate nine para cyclists to compete in the ASEAN Para Games in Thailand in January, with realistic hopes of winning multiple medals. If successful, this will pave the way forward to the Asian Para Games in Japan later in 2026.

Many thanks for your consideration,
