After an accidental fall on Thursday 6th February, Mike Goodge was hospitilized and unfortunately passed away at the family home in Ban Thongphanthong last Friday morning at approx. 4.00am. A prompt private cremation took place later on the same day as per the previous wishes of Mike.
Mike arrived in Laos and settled down to a new way of life in March 1996. In June of the same year, Mike married his Lao wife Anousone.
Mike leaves his Lao wife, two wonderful Lao daughters, Emily and Ellen, and two sons from the USA, Peter and Michael. Mike’s heart settled in Laos and as he often said; “These are the best years of my life”.
Mike was well known in the early years of the British Business Group Laos, for his efforts on the Executive Board where he contributed towards the early development of the BBGL, and held the position of Treasurer.
Despite Laos becoming his new home, Mike’s work, as a Road Traffic & Safety Engineer, took him to the far corners of the world, where he was always well accepted due his cheery disposition and acceptance of people from all walks of life.
Unfortunately, Mike has fallen just short of his 83rd birthday in March. However, some family and friends will celebrate the ‘Life of Mike’ on that very special occasion.
