Obituary – Peter Livermore

We fondly remember, celebrate and say farewell to BBGL Board Member and friend, Peter Livermore, whose funeral is being held in Paris on 10 September.

Through photography and documentary films, Peter dedicated his life to documenting the living heritage, sacred rituals, and beauty of Lao PDR. His works show the result of immersion, patience, and profound respect for the communities where he worked.

His films have immortalized landscapes, people and livelihoods from north to south, including along the Nam Ou River, in Lanten villages of Luang Namtha, and in the world heritage city of Luang Prabang.

After coming to Laos first in 1989, Peter spent more than three decades working and living here. Peter learned the language, learned to play the khene and was embraced by the cultural arts community in Laos.

Peter was an active member of the management board the British Business Group, providing leadership on art, design and culture. His insights and input will be sorely missed.

Though Peter has passed on, his legacy endures in every frame he filmed, every song he played on the khene, and every community he has touched.

Rest in peace, Peter.
